Pick a good time

Choose a time when your child is fed and rested, not right before a nap. Book online to pick the time, or walk in when the shop is open.

Tell them what will happen

Explain it in simple words: a cape, a comb, clippers that buzz, and hair that falls off. A short talk beforehand takes away a lot of the surprise. Let your child choose a style from a photo if they can.

In the chair

Stay where your child can see you. Tell the barber if your child is sensitive to the buzzing of the clippers or the tickle on the neck, so they can work around it.

Price and time

At Hair Culture America the kid's cut for children under 10 is $30 and takes about 30 minutes. Two kids can be booked back to back with the same barber. See kids' haircuts.
